The Bragg Brothers Band is a 3 piece Indie group based in Nelson New Zealand. Brothers Lou and Chris Bragg formed the band in 2010 and have been playing classic rock on the Nelson pub and club circuit for several decades. The band recently released a 5 track  self titled EP in February 2017, written by both Lou and Chris Bragg and recorded at Bay city sound Studios in Nelson. The band have been working on new songs for a 2018 project which they are very  excited about.

Influences for their band are artists from the 1960s and 70s namely Tom Petty, Dire Straits and Pink Floyd. Band Members are Lou Bragg – lead guitar and lead vocals, Chris Bragg – bass guitar, lead and backing vocals. Karl the Ride Stubberfield – drums and backing vocals.

The Band

Hailing from the underground rock scene in Wellington, Hault has recorded the first album of their career, combining metal, heavy rock and psychedelic influences into a pummelling sound that has rocked the Wellington region.

Taking inspiration from the biggest names in rock; Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Tool, Kings X and many more, Hault have spent the past two years perfecting and developing their sound, crushing it into an ensemble of heavy grunge rock guaranteed to destroy stereotypes of standard rock.

Whether in the studio working on new material or on the stage of Wellingtons best venues, Hault have remained devoted to delivering a performance not presently heard from original rock line ups.

The Wellington rock outfit—vocalist and guitarist Mike Cole, bassist Sean Fitzpatrick and drummer Grant Lister —not only know where they’re going, but have a rock solid history that brought them to where they are today. With the coming release of the band’s debut EP, Hault arrives with substance, style and a heaviness that captures their energy, love for great music and commitment to developing a fresh perspective on heavy rock.

A word from Mike Primalsound

After discovering my passion for guitar at the age of 23 I pretty much became obsessed with trying to create my own style of playing and songwriting.  It is a passion that i still have today.  I have been heavily influenced by the playing of Toni Iommi, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Robbie Kreiger, David Gilmour and many others, the biggest influence would probably come from the underground punk rock scene of the 70’s and 80’s.  What blew my mind about punk rock was the sheer power and simplicity of the songs and playing.

I have been playing in different bands in the Wellington region for quite a while, and it has taken several years to really develop my abilities as a singer/songwriter and guitar player. Time just makes you a better musician but so does playing with other band members.

Hault came about with myself and Grant Lister, someone who I had played with before in a previous band, After a few jams we knew that we needed a good bass player, someone who could fill in all that empty space. Enter Sean Fitzpatrick.  Sean had replied to an add I had put up and came all the way out to Upper Hutt for a jam. After the first song his playing really impressed me and his sound was huge, this was exactly what we needed for a three piece band.  We have grown and developed a lot as a band and all share the same warped sense of humor. Hault will continue to progress through the ups and downs of this industry.

“A band for the ages”

Mecuzine is the complete package. A blend of seasoned performers and youthful, exuberant talent combined with brilliant song-writing, subtle arrangements and dynamic performances.

Tony Johns (aka T) the front man, is a singer song writer and modern day storyteller who castes a refreshing new light on issues which seldom attract the spotlight.  With an explosive guitar style and a voice and onstage presence which eminates from the deepest recesses of his soul, T lures you into the passion and the pain. Working with icons of the NZ music industry like Mike Chunn, Bruce Lynch and Don McGlashin, T has had publishing deals,  and has released his songs in every format. As front man and song writer for “BLONDE COMEDY” and “NATIONAL ANTHEM”  he performed in venues of all shapes and sizes, from pubs to concerts, and with artists from the top draw like INXS, SPLIT ENZ, BILLY IDOL, MIDNIGHT OIL and  DIVINYLS.

Tony Lumsden, bass playing supremo and BVs, undoubtably the most internationally significant bass player out of little ol’ New Zealand.  You will never hear him say it, but Tony has played, toured or recorded with rock royalty here and abroad, including: THE CURE, ELVIS COSTELLO, HELLO SAILOR, JANE HELLRIEGEL ANDREW FAGAN, RICKY MORRIS.

No more to be said!

Joseph Johns, son of T, rhythm guitarist and BVs, formerly of “CHILD” and Mike Walsh drummer, ex “EDDIES NECK ROLL” and “FIRST BASE”.  Both of immense talent which, under the steady hands and deep experience surrounding them, will see the cream rise to the top.  And finally, John Beech on keys and other assorted sounds – formerly of “SHADE” and Godfather (“don’t fuck with me”) of the band who lived and breathed the cosmic musical cataclysm of the late 60s and 70s, and claims to be ‘hangin’ in here to make sure the young fellas don’t forget where this all began”.

NZ singer/songwriter Nate Kruse writes and performs pop rock and acoustic music as a soloist. Born in 2001 and coming from a town in rural South Auckland, Nate has wanted to pursue his music career ever since he was 9 after performing his first cover in his primary school talent quest. From then on his inspiration for writing music has always been his main priority.

Finding his own style of music that is different from the other artists but a style that could catch attention from different types of people has been his main focus. He has noticed an increase in electronic music which he enjoys, but he misses hearing music that consists of real guitars and drums.

Nate believes everyone has the chance to do something better than it has already been done before. He hopes to grab many different people’s attention and wishes that they can feel all of the emotions that he writes with.

As Nate pursues his solo career, he also performs as a lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in a band of four; Mind Over Matter. His experience as part of the band has revealed his true passion and clarity that his future will be in music. The joy and inspiration people get from listening to good music is something Nate revels in and aspires to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Nate is currently working towards releasing a few 2017 singles as well as an E.P album.

The Gracious Deviants are an acoustic group based in Wellington, New Zealand. As well as a reasonably accurate description of the band’s personalities, “Gracious Deviants” is in fact an anagram of “voices and guitars”.

Their sound is pure, unadorned acoustic pop music heavy with harmony and steeped in the traditions of the great New Zealand singer/songwriters of the last thirty years. Their repertoire consists entirely of original material – songs about relationships, about love at every stage from the unrequited to the happy couple, from the first spark to the dying embers.

Old friends from way back, Pete and Darrel finally sat down and decided to write their own material after years of playing other people’s. Their first live performance together as the Gracious Deviants was a last-minute leap of faith at Henrietta Ford’s Stagecoach Open Mic Night at the Blue Note in Wellington using borrowed gear. Since then they have been catching the ears and eyes of Wellingtonians with their distinctive songs, the lyrics simple and relatable but never plain. Their performances have reminded audiences that music in its most stripped-down form- homegrown, acoustic, and entirely original- can be the most refreshing and novel.

Darrel and Pete are both strong singers, alternating lead vocals in their songs. Neither profess to be “lead guitarist” either, they prefer to accompany themselves with a more egalitarian, rhythmic interplay between their two acoustic guitars. Their goal in every performance is to come across as more than just three people, the sum far greater than its

Paul Hoggard and Penny Rowsell-Hoggard are local singer/songwriters from Aongatete (near Tauranga) who have now been together for about 10 years. During that time they have taken their songs over the length of this country and have toured through UK and Ireland twice whist in between finding time to make 4 albums of their own music. With roots in folk music and in the pop/rock music of the 70’s and 80’s they have settled on a fine mix of songs that take you on journeys, tell stories and provide you with a palette of timbre through change in instruments and rhythms to keep you entertained. Their melody and harmony arrangements will hook and draw you deeper into the songs. At one of these concerts these days you are also likely to hear a couple of cover songs they love and have stood the test of time.

Frankencopter are a 4 piece Rock band that explode on stage with Blues Brass and Balls! Inspired by the super rock and pop sounds of the seventies, they are a melding of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin performed by the love child of David Bowie and Tom Petty! Our songs vary in tempo and character, some are a mix of funk, jazz and blues, others clearly Rock that grinds close to Heavy Metal. A unique sound with plenty of bluesy Sax and formidable Guitars, all backed up by the tightest Bass and Drum sound this side of the Mississippi!

Don’t take our word for it…

Great for a party – when Frankencopter rocks out, you just wanna dance!

Cath Vincent

Outstanding sound and extremely entertaining. Their covers are so good (true to the originals, whilst making them their own) and their originals I’ve heard absolutely rock!! If you’re looking for a great band for a great event, then Frankencopter should be your first call. Brilliant!
Andrew Vesey
Great band with a fantastic collection of rock classics and some original songs. Heard them last week again. A must see.
I have had the pleasure of being at two of Frankencopter’s performances and they are fantastic! No matter what type of music you like, when Frankencopter play, you just want to get up and dance! These guys are top quality, professional and talented, with a wide musical repertoire that encourages positive expression from an audience. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Frankencopter for your next event.

The generosity of the Music Planet in Wellington has seen our club secure the use of a PA and sound system which our covers band “Encore” will use to travel with during their tour representing The WLMM Club band. Several of our club members are now enjoying increased live performance work and increased interest in them due to the marketing of their individual profiles. LA Thompson co-hosted Radio Dunedin Breakfast Show on Saturday the 30th April with Presenter Graeme Fyffe interviewing the stunning Tina Cross to name one of our high profile New Zealand artists!

Born in Tauranga James grew up on semi-rural area on the out skirts of the city. Jame’s has early childhood memories of Sunday mornings listening to his father’s collection of jazz records.

James learned piano to grade 3. He taught himself some contemporary piano tunes he liked. In his late teens Jame’s bought a Neil Young song book and started to learn guitar. Neil is still one of his favorite song writers along with Bob Dylan,  Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and others.

Jame’s enjoys awide range of music. Joe Cocker, The Doobie Brothers, Cold Chisel, Deep purple, Led Zeppelin, U2 are just some of my favorites but he enjoyed all sorts of music from different genre’s.

Playing the guitar and learning to sing meant playing on the street busking was a good place to practice and earn a little money at the same time. With Rhythm and vocals James got together with a like-minded group of friends and formed a band (The Peace Shop) and played around the Coromandel but like a lot of bands we fell apart after one season. It was a great experience as there was 6 of them with 2 girls, so it gave us a lot of versatility and they were able to cover a wide variety of music.

James has always been a keen outdoors man. He believe my passion for nature is reflected in his writing.

James has written songs since he began playing guitar. He see music as an enjoyable way to communicate experiences, feelings, ideas etc. and have fun.

Jame’s favorite music is to create or jam with other like-minded musicians to make spontaneous but tight sounds. Ideally James would like to record his own songs (or yours) with a group of musicians in this way.
